Don Meredith, on travelling with us

Don sent this over after his journey. It is eighty seconds, filmed on his own phone in a car park, and we are putting it up exactly as it arrived.

We could have written a paragraph about what he says. We would rather you heard him say it — a testimonial somebody else has summarised is a testimonial you have no reason to believe.

If you have travelled with us and would rather write than film, Where We've Been is the room for it. That one is still empty on purpose.

Welcome to the Circle.

This is the room where the people who travel with us can talk to each other and to the curators who plan the journeys. Before it fills up here is what the house actually believes.

India has built a tourism economy at home. It has not yet claimed its place in the world's imagination. Ten million foreign arrivals a year against France's hundred. Seventh in the world by arrivals and thirty-ninth on the index that measures how ready a country is to receive them.

That gap is the argument. Closing even part of it is the work.
